What is a SeaGlider?
A seaglider is such new technology, that most people don’t know what they are! You can think of them as the perfect marriage between a plane and a boat, allowing for more seamless and sustainable travel.
The planes are outfitted with hydrofoils, which are wing-like structures on the bottom, which helps it move more quickly and smoothly on water. These innovative seagliders work in three parts.
When it first departs, it works like a boat. Once it gets further away from the harbor, it rises up on the hydrofoil, allowing it to move smoothly and more quickly along the water.
Finally, once it is a safe distance away from the harbor, it can retract its hydrofoils and glide over the water, within a wingspan of the water’s surface. With large passenger windows and fluid transitions, it promises to be a dazzling way to travel and take in the sights at the same time.
Forward-Thinking Transportation
The main model in NEOM will be Regent’s flagship seaglider: the Viceroy.
This seaglider can carry up to twelve passengers in its sleek cabin. They are much more sustainable than traditional travel, since they are electric-powered, as opposed to relying on gasoline or fuel.
While these seagliders and their sleek appearance will add to the luxurious experience of traveling in this area, they are even more connected to the mission of NEOM. By allowing passengers to travel quickly with minimal environmental impact, these seagliders will help establish it as a world’s premier sustainable transportation system.
