With NEOM’s greater push for sustainability, it is no surprise that food stability and production have become part of the conversation!
NEOM recently announced the launch of Topian, a subsidiary with the goal of refining and developing sustainable, innovative food solutions.
While Topian will support NEOM’s greater goal of creating more sustainable living and increasing economic diversity in Saudi Arabia, it will also contribute to sustainable food practices around the world through key partnerships!
Topian’s Vision
As mentioned, Topian envisions a new way of producing, distributing, and consuming food through sustainable, innovative food solutions.
This mission stretches across five key pillars, including climate-proof agriculture, regenerative aquaculture, novel foods, personalized nutrition, and sustainable food supply & ESG.
Topian unveiled with the full support from the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA), in support of Saudi Arabia’s larger Vision 2030.
With Topian and the larger vision, Saudi Arabia aims to guarantee food security, combat climate change, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
Since it has such a big overall mission, within the larger mission of NEOM, Topian is a big bet and key investment for NEOM and Saudi Arabia.
First Step: “Future to Table”
With this vision of the “Art of More with Less,” Topian hopes to usher in a new era of food.
This builds into the launch concept as well, “Future to Table.”
Future to Table will create and apply groundbreaking solutions to reinvent the current global food systems and address issues connected to high population growth, new food consumption trends, climate change, and natural resource consumption around the world.
With this ambitious first step, Topian also plans to develop educational programs and initiatives to apply their learnings more broadly.
This will come to life in sustainable gastronomy programs, training programs, and chef camps to bring those insights to local cuisine and beyond.
Pivotal Partnerships
Topian’s work will be accelerated through key partnerships it has established with other respected institutions throughout the world.
Some of these partners include King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Tabuk University, Tabuk Fish Co., BlueBalu, Van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects, and Cargill.
Topian is also a key partner in the global food security conversation, all the way up to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Saudi Green Initiative.
Topian’s progress not only supports Saudi Arabia’s development goals, but will also contribute to the creation of a transformative global food system and new benchmarks for innovative technologies.
The Sustainable Food Revolution: NEOM and Beyond
With its ambitious vision and sustainable systems, Topian will be a critical component to NEOM’s development.
Alongside its crucial role in helping Saudi Arabia fulfill its Vision 2030, Topian will contribute to the global push for greater food security overall.
Topian is just one more step forward in NEOM’s development and the greater global vision of sustainability and responsible development.
